Project Description

One of a series of short films about the renowned National Trust owned Fleece Inn in Bretforton on the edge of The Cotswolds. One of the oldest surviving pubs in the country, The fleece has many stories to tell and this short film looks at the fascinating origins of the “Witches Circles’ that are painted on the stone floor of the pub. Pub landlord, Nigel Smith recounts the tale. The Fleece Inn is a pub steeped in history, originally built in the early 15th century, and bequeathed to the National Trust in 1977. A vibrant part of the community and just a stone’s throw from the beautiful Cotswold hills the pub attracts loyal locals and visitors from all over the world.
